We will be emailing all registered participants the official Participant Guide the Monday of race week. You will also be able to find a copy here!
To make things easy for you, we have three options. 1. Add on Mail My Packet for a nominal fee and we will ship your packet to your door so you can skip it altogether. 2. Early packet pick-up is the night before the race at the park from 4-7PM. 3. If you can’t make early packet pick-up, you can grab it race morning from 8-10AM.
Feeling tough? Add this optional challenge on and you can choose a pumpkin at packet pick-up to run or walk with. While sizes depend on crop yields, they usually range anywhere from 2-10 pounds. You’ll earn the exclusive Tough Pumpkin medal in addition to the regular finisher’s medal!
We are monitoring the ever evolving COVID-19 situation closely as we progress through the spring and summer. Our team has had numerous meetings to discuss strategies and best practices to, as always, ensure a safe event for participants, volunteers, and spectators. These are ever changing and we will continue to keep up with guidelines and updates from the CDC as well as local governing bodies.
As of now, we are still organizing and planning for fall events, while keeping a close eye on the COVID-19 situation. Currently, we do not have plans to cancel any fall events and remain optimistic that we will all be back out enjoying our sport later this year. Of course, we expect some changes to race day to ensure everyone’s safety, and we will continue actively working on this throughout our planning process!
So, what happens if we have to cancel an event due to COVID-19? We would address this on an event by event basis and things would be very circumstantial. Due to the upfront costs associated with the event, it is non-refundable. However, you would have the option to transfer to our ever-popular Virtual Run. We have been doing our version of a virtual race since 2016 and people have grown to love it over the years! While it might not fully replace the excitement of race day, take it from others that it’s still a fun way to participate from your own neighborhood. Plus, we will ship all your swag to your door for free and introduce some fun ways to get involved with everyone in our GPR community from a safe distance! Learn all about the Virtual Run here.
In summary, if you sign up for a Gourdy’s Pumpkin Run and we have to cancel it due to COVID-19, we won’t leave you out to dry! The popular Virtual Run would be the default option and, if we are able to, we may provide other options based on the circumstances. We have and always will continue keeping our participants, volunteers, and spectators safety a top priority while also realizing how important it is for people to stay part of the sport we all love. Stay safe and we will see you this fall!
People always look forward to the new swag each year. We can’t wait to show you what we have in store for 2020!
