What’s Gourdy’s Policy Regarding COVID-19?

We are excited to let you know the event is still scheduled and to share some changes so you’re ready for race day! We’re planning the event as a socially distanced one, and will make adjustments as needed throughout the summer and into fall based on local and federal guidelines. It’s an ever evolving situation, so we have methodically gone through every aspect of the event and made adjustments to ensure that, as long as local and state government permits, we can safely continue the fall tradition!

To give you an idea of what to expect, here are some changes we will be implementing:
  • Wave start times with a rolling start

  • Smaller wave sizes that will be based on current group gathering guidelines and increase as allowed

  • Considerations on course (widened paths where available, instructions for safely passing others on course)

  • Elimination of the water station (please BYOW if you need water during your run)

  • Streamlined packet pick-up

  • Streamlined finish chute

  • Separate area on site to receive your medal(s), banana, water, pumpkin, and apple cider

  • Staging all areas to provide social distancing

  • Not allowing for spectators

  • Safety measures for all volunteers and race staff (ranging from temperature checks to masks to gloves)

  • And, of course, plenty of hand sanitizer

The above is what we expect to do as of now. We understand how fluid this is and want to adapt as we move ahead. We’re planning the event as if the current conditions are still present come race day. Of course, we will be flexible if things relax. For example, right now, we are not permitting spectators. But, if by race day we can, we certainly will!

So, what happens if we have to cancel due to COVID-19? We would address this on an event by event basis and things would be very circumstantial. Due to the upfront costs associated with the event, it is non-refundable. However, you would have the option to transfer to our ever-popular Virtual Run. We have been doing our version of a virtual race since 2016 and people have grown to love it over the years! While it might not fully replace the excitement of race day, take it from others that it’s still a fun way to participate from your own neighborhood. Plus, we will ship all your swag to your door for free and introduce some fun ways to get involved with everyone in our GPR community from a safe distance! Learn all about the Virtual Run here.

With all the above plans being implemented, our team is very confident that the event will take place, albeit a little different from your usual race day (which isn’t a bad thing, mind you!) Sign up today for the best price and know that if for some reasons things get worse, you’ll be able to participate in the Virtual Run. See you this fall!

Registration and Pricing

The event is subject to selling out, so be sure to secure a spot before it’s too late. Further, the sooner you sign up, the cheaper the registration fee!

Early Bird: $39 April 27-July 19

Summer Savings: $44 July 20-October 4

Fall Frenzy: $49 October 5-November 6

Race Day: $54

Parking

Parking is free and held on the farm. We encourage carpooling to help save space and ease congestion. As we made changes to help keep the event socially distanced, you should arrive no later than 30 minutes prior to your chosen wave start time. If you arrive earlier than that, please hang out in your car until exactly 30 minutes prior to your wave start time. We would much rather you arrive early rather than late, as you are required to start on time 🙂

Team Registration

Create a team with friends when you sign up and each team member saves $5 off their registration! Each team member can sign up individually, so create your team today and invite friends to join!

Participant Guide

We will be emailing all registered participants the official Participant Guide the Monday of race week. You will also be able to find a copy here!

Packet Pickup

Life handed us apples so we we’re making apple cider! Due to COVID-19, we are planning the event to be a socially distanced event. You will choose a wave time and will be able to pick up your packet at the farm beginning 30 minutes prior to your chosen wave time. Alternatively, we still have an option during registration for Mail My Packet where we can mail you your lightweight tech hoodie and bib ahead of the race so you can skip packet pick-up altogether and just show up at the start line at your designated wave time!

Tough Pumpkin

Feeling tough? Add this optional challenge on and you can choose a pumpkin at packet pick-up to run or walk with. While sizes depend on crop yields, they usually range anywhere from 2-10 pounds. You’ll earn the exclusive Tough Pumpkin medal in addition to the regular finisher’s medal!

VOLUNTEER AND GET REWARDED!

Volunteers make the event happen. Help out on race day and you’ll earn great perks, including a choice of either a free race registration or a donation to the charity of your choice! Check out volunteer shifts and sign up here.
