7:00 AM: Packet Pick-up Begins
9:00 AM: 5K Begins
Make the easy drive to Military Park in downtown Indy and you’ll quickly find yourself amongst fellow fall-lovers. The late October sun warms your face and the butterflies flutter as you approach the start line. A loosening bounce and side lunge or two, you take one final deep breath of the crisp autumn air. It’s go time!
The course heads west and you’ll hop on the White River Trail. Meandering alongside the scenic river provides an escape while still in the heart of the city. The late fall foliage will be on full display the entire 3.1 miles.
Your heart pulses with joy as you crush your goal by crossing the finish line. Friends ‘cheers’ you with a crisp cup of apple cider. Snapping photos, showing off your new bling, and enjoying the waning days of October in the tree-lined park: perfect. As the celebration winds down, you wonder why fall has to seemingly be the shortest of all the seasons.
There's a bunch of reasons why you should sign up now rather than wait. Here's 5 of 'em:
Running is great but is always better when others tag along! Create a team with 4+ friends and each team member saves $5.
Add on the Tough Pumpkin® challenge and we’ll supply you with a pumpkin to run with. Cross the finish line with it and you’ll receive the exclusive Tough Pumpkin medal in addition to your regular finisher medal!

Parking is held in the nearby parking garages, surface lots, and meters. Please help minimize traffic by carpooling with a friend if possible.
We suggest arriving at least an hour and a half prior to race start to ensure minimal traffic and lines. Be a smart pumpkin and aim to park your car at 7:30AM.
Create or join a team with 4+ friends and each team member will save $5! Here’s how it works:
1) When this first person goes to sign up, they can choose to create a team.
2) That person is the designated team captain. He or she will enter a group name and password. The team captain can continue with his or her registration.
3) Once the team captain has signed up, they can share the team name and password so others can join. Please note that the team captain does not have to sign everyone up. Rather, each member can sign up and join the team to pay for their own registration, all while still receiving $5 off!
The official Participant Guide will be emailed to you a week before race day. It will have all the details including a course map, event schedule, and much more!
You have three options to receive your packet:
Mail My Packet: Add this on during registration for a nominal fee and we’ll ship your packet to you. This way, you can park and head straight to the start line on race morning!
Friday Night: Swing by the park the night before the race from 4-7PM to grab your packet. This will help avoid any race day lines and make race morning even easier!
Race Day: Race day packet pick-up will be held at the park beginning at 7AM. If waiting until race morning, we suggest arriving at least an hour and a half prior to race start.
We’re closely monitoring the ever-evolving pandemic. While planning, we’re creating options for numerous scenarios, all in the spirit of ensuring a fun, safe event can take place come fall!
Your registration will also feature ‘Flexible Registration’. Once signed up, you can easily switch to a different location, transfer to the Virtual Run, or even defer to 2022, all free of charge!
Check out our blog post, ‘Gourdy’s Approach to Events’, to learn what to expect, how Flexible Registration works, and more!
During registration, you’ll need to choose a wave. Waves break runners, joggers, and walkers into groups based on their expected pace. For example, Wave A is designated for runners maintaining a pace of 8:30/mile and under. On the other hand, Wave G is designated for those that want to walk with friends!
During registration when you select a wave from the dropdown menu, it will display the pace for that wave. Your best bet is to first decide if you plan on running, jogging, or walking and choose one of those waves. From there, estimate your pace to the best of your ability.
Not sure what wave is best for you? No worries! We suggest choosing one now as you can always edit it later. The event and waves are limited in size, so choose now for the best availability!
On race morning, Wave A will start right at 9:00AM. Once they clear the start line, the next wave will go, and so on. It’s a super easy process that helps alleviate crowding on the course and makes the entire 3.1 miles more enjoyable for all!
Absolutely! In fact, about 1/3 off all participants choose to walk the course. You’ll have a bunch of support and we’ll be waiting for you at the finish line to cheer you on!
We have two waves dedicated for walkers: Wave F and Wave G. Wave F is for solo walkers while Wave G is for groups that are walking together!
